When good is not good enough

The properties of metals and alloys can be influenced by heat treatment. One example is tension release annealing. During heat treatment, materials are heated in accurately controlled time intervals and, depending on the process, cooled in water, oil, salt, inert gas, or air in between. In our large, computer-controlled furnaces, we run fully automated heat treatment cycles and monitor the process in real time.
